"Bemoaning these dire straits in 'Those Canaan Days,' the lead soloist, Sebastian Gervase, entrances as Joseph’s brother, Simeon—a role played with comically melodramatic physicality."

Molly Smith, Artistic Director, Arena Stage:

“Sebastian was a real joy in rehearsals and performance. He was involved in the process from the beginning, creative and full of ideas.

Sebastian is both impish and deep and brings all of his gifts to the stage.”

"He is a multi-talented, very collaborative young performer who clearly has a prolific and effective future in the performing arts…. Sebastian was remarkably present in the rehearsal process: listening to direction and integrating it immediately and consistently, helping out younger members of the ensemble with these adjustments, and genuinely interested in working with the larger company to tell a clear story and put on a good show…. [H]is enthusiastic demeanor, his dedication, and his ability to deliver an excellent and authentic performance — all remain vivid in my memory. Indeed, I look forward to the next time he and I can collaborate on a production. He’d be an asset to any company and, indeed, to your program’s culture.”

Byron Easley, Head of Dance, Tisch School of Drama’s New Studio on Broadway:

“First off, it's been a pleasure working with Sebastian, he’s quite a talent – full of wonder, imagination, play and possibility. His ability to accurately pick up and retain choreography makes him a choreographer's favorite. Sebastian not only has the enthusiasm for performing, but possesses a large threshold for intense and focused work. He approaches the work with a fearlessness that serves his storytelling in wonderful ways....  Today’s musical theater performers are asked to do every type of dance imaginable – Sebastian has the potential and aptitude to become one of our leaders.”

Taro Alexander, Off-Broadway
Actor and Founder of the
Stuttering Association
for the Young

“Sebastian Gervase is a passionate, dedicated, and talented artist. My name is Taro Alexander and I'm the Founder of SAY: The Stuttering Association for the Young. For the past 21 years, I have worked with countless young people who stutter and have mentored them as they create original works of art. It is not hyperbole to say that, in the last two decades, I have never been more impressed with a young artist than I have been with Sebastian. Watching him write an original song with our Founding Musical Director, Everett Bradley, was a joy. Sebastian was able to create a beautiful song that was both personal and universal at the same time. When he performed his song at our Gala in New York City, he brought the house down!

He is a true triple threat! His acting, singing, and dancing chops are legit. I saw that first hand when he choreographed a piece for our Gala (the following year). I was blown away by his professionalism, his commitment, and his kindness. He's the real deal. If you have any questions about Sebastian, please feel free to contact me at Taro@say.org.”

“Not only is he incredibly driven and dedicated to his growth as a performing artist, but his joy and light shine through in all he commits to. He is a creative leader, innovative collaborator, and a joy to work with. When the COVID-19 pandemic shut down his dance studio, Sebastian persevered. He converted home space into a dance studio and maintained regular attendance through the newly formed DC Conservatory of Dance (now Unity Dance & Movement) on Zoom. Sebastian continued his studies in ballet, tap, jazz, dance conditioning, and prepared fully choreographed repertoire from home. Thanks to his commitment and passion, Sebastian’s growth as a dancer and performer improved exponentially during this time…. Not only is Sebastian a driven student and exuberant performer, he is also a great leader. Sebastian celebrates the achievements of his peers like his own. The positivity and support he brings to every group is infectious and he is acknowledged as a role model among his peers. Sebastian possesses both artistic promise and a brilliant mind…. As a result, his performance is nuanced and fresh.”
